up before the sun

May 1, 2011

Every sunrise is a present,
A gift from God above,
Gift-wrapped with scarlet ribbons,
Tied with bows of love.

Each day’s a new beginning,
A time to start anew,
While all the stars are sleeping,
The rose is fresh with dew.

Each day’s a new creation,
Too lovely to ignore,
We may find a blessing,
Just outside our door.

We cannot keep the past,
Like fireflies in a jar;
Nor journey to the future,
By wishing on a star.

Every sunrise is a blessing,
A gift for just today,
Rejoice my friend,
Embrace it before it fades away!

Me and a few of my lovely girlfriends all woke before the sun yesterday and hiked the Makapuu Lighthouse. We all had a such a great time, and I felt so blessed to be able to share such a special moment with such individually special people.

dawn. so still and peaceful. if you look closely you can still see the moon. i love seeing that moment where one day ends and a new one begins.

welcome to this day, sun.

there really is something so special, so sacred about a sunrise. it’s gone with the old, on with the new. forgetting and letting go of the troubles from the day before and welcoming and accepting the present.  it’s new breath, new life. everything is so still and quiet, and so connected.  no matter how many times i’ve seen the sun rise the same feelings and emotion rises in me, and i think there’s something to be said for that. i truly feel blessed to be a part of and witness God’s creations and art work.
