Memorial Day ’12

May 29, 2012

(a friend of mine captured this awesome photo. the Iwo Jima Memorial on Marine Corps Base Hawaii)

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.  ~John McCrae

“Only the dead have seen the end of war.” ~Plato

How did you spend your Memorial day? Hopefully you took a few moments out of your day to give thanks and remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

That’s an awesome photo, woah. I love it!

We had a great Memorial Day. I did have to work a little bit (boo!) but we were still able to get up early and go fishing and we also had a little BBQ at home.

It was super hot out here, I wish I could have spent more time on the lake and getting some sun. I need to work on my tan (I’ve been using fake tanner to play catch up, haha).

    What did y’all do??
